We're looking for all the high-impact wins we can get this month, and honestly, it doesn't have to be highly intense to have a big impact. I hope you're starting to get excited (and motivated) to use the month of January for different tasks. Less pressure. More energy. More clarity. And more wins that actually matter. We're all about using January to clean up the spaces, the foundation, that you'll build on throughout the rest of the year. If you missed the first two spaces to clean, here's a recap:
Space #03: Clean Up Your FinancesToday, we're moving into space three, a focus on your finances. This isn't a "crunch numbers and stress out" action. It's not about scarcity but ownership. **I wrote an entire blog post about how money is attached to your health | READ IT HERE!** I'm not really a fan of "boss babe" language, but I do want this year to be less about your finances bossing you around and more about you being the boss of your finances. That starts with a simple, honest look at your current financial state. Sweating a little? Are you feeling ready to bolt? That's okay! I got you. Take a breath. This may feel (and be) one of the hardest clean-ups, but it's also one of the most relieving. A Personal Story:After I graduated from college and got married, my husband and I took our finances very seriously. We followed the debt snowball like our lives depended on it. And it worked, until it didn't. Or more truthfully, until I rebelled. We were so rigorous (probably even too rigorous) with it that it took away all sense of adventure, which is a core value of ours. Which is why we stopped and then swung to the opposite extreme. That looked like ignoring our finances entirely. While fun and liberating at first, pretending not to worry didn't reduce our stress. It actually created a new kind of bondage and a huge mess. Over time, we realized the importance of keeping our finances "clean." By cleaning the foundation, we started to tell our money what to do instead of being owned by it, and this is what actually created the freedom we were looking for. And I don't mean freedom from debt; there is also freedom in having a plan and a system that works for you as you pay it down. It's about finding your own system, not following the one that tells you if you do x,y, and z, you'll be debt-free this year. This story isn’t just about us, but it’s what this Life Edit is about. Not following someone else’s system, but creating your own. And cleaning up your finances is a key part of that foundation because money is one of the greatest stressors and energy drains people face today. What Cleaning Up Your Finances Can Look Like:Like all cleaning, there are countless ways to approach this. It depends on what you need right now. Big-picture actions could include:
Smaller, immediate wins could include:
Why This Matters:Finances aren’t just about numbers. They’re impacting your stress and energy. Each bill you haven’t looked at, each forgotten subscription, and each cluttered account subtly drains mental bandwidth. When you clear even one of these areas, you free up mental and emotional energy to redirect toward life, creativity, or rest. Think of it as speed cleaning your finances, just like we did with your mental, digital, and physical spaces. Small, intentional wins that create immediate results. And those results? They fuel you to stick with it! Your Action Steps:
January isn’t about overhauling your life in one week. It’s about finding the wins that matter, gaining momentum, and creating energy for what you actually want. It's setting the stage to make the most of the year ahead. Here's to getting to know your fiances, even if it feels like an awkward blind date. Who knows, it could be the thing you didn't know you needed to shift this year! |

Hey Reader! I hope you're enjoying this Life Edit! Today we're diving into the final life edit... a planning purge. Can we be honest about planning for a moment? Planning is exactly what we think it is, and also nothing like it. At its core, planning is meant to support life. But somewhere along the way, it became a tool for control. A way to prevent the unexpected, manage uncertainty, and arrive at some imagined “perfect” destination. Here’s the truth: planning isn’t really about the plan....
We’re rounding out the Home Edit, and in my opinion, this is where things start to get more fun. That’s not to say cleaning your home or sprucing up your finances can’t be fun…but let’s not try too hard here. Those spaces tend to require more muscle, discipline, and brain power than what we’re stepping into next. So take a breath.Grab a mug of coffee. And let yourself settle in and actually dream a little. Space #04: Clean Up Your Routines As promised, this one gets lighter! The only real...
We're moving forward in the Life Edit, and making January great again! Because it's really not made for change, at least not in the way you think. January has a different role, one that makes all of the things you want to do possible. January is made for cleaning up. If you missed the first space to clean, here's a recap: Learn Why January Is the Worst Month For Change (And What It's Better For) Space #01: Cleaning Up Mental & Digital Clutter Now, it's time to make plans for space two!
